Window Winder Assembly
The Backstory:
We were engaged by a local Rolls Royce and Bentley maintenance and restoration specialist to investigate a possible solution to a longstanding failure point. For 40 plus years of production of both Rolls Royce and Bentley saloon cars a particular component in the window winder mechanism was considered prone to failure. Various attempts to improve the reliability of this part had been attempted, without any notable success.
We analysed a sample of a failed part, identified the root cause of the failure and took a fresh approach to re-designing the part. Using “Clean sheet” thinking we were able to design a modern sprocket and with the use of better quality material and finishes we were able to produce an assembly which exceeds the original part’s operational parameters.
We achieved even quieter operation than the original part, while eliminating the failure point completely.
Our solution is a direct and sympathetic replacement, no modification to the surrounding parts or mounting points, or the car, are required.
At the moment we are working to bring this part to market in Europe and the USA through an established specialist parts supplier and explore other similar opportunities.
