Appliance Handle with Self-Righting Logo

The backstory

A client approached us with a longstanding issue they have with customised appliances they produce.

They had struggled for years to come up with a way for their logo to always return to an upright position on the appliances when these knobs are returned to an off position. The knobs control a valve action contained behind the knob.

The constraints were that the outside diameter of the handle needed to remain unchanged, the design needed to be clean and unobtrusive, the whole assembly needed to be easily removeable for servicing and ideally any visible features to enable removal would need to be discrete.

We designed a self-righting mechanism for the logo to be attached to, within the diameter of the original knob, using a weighted mechanism and bearing.

We were able to produce the mechanism so that the face and logo sits flush with the end of the handle.

We also designed a very elegant magnetic mounting system and removal tool, enabling the fitment and removal of the entire assembly with absolutely no visible fixings.
